Finger Flair

So, I was inspired by @melange4d's great button rings last week so I went hunting around Amazon for something similar.  I mean, I actually wasn't expecting much, because it seems like more of a crafting sort of thing, but you never know, right?  Anyway, as you probably know, I have the attention span of a squirrel.  I start doing something and then if something shiny flies by I'm chasing it.  So, I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you that I got distracted about 2 minutes into my button ring search.  But, I think it was a good distraction.  This Sterling Silver and Marcasite Button Dome Ring is pretty cute!

In case you were wondering what Marcasite is, it's a sort of crystal that's related to Pyrite.  But, when folks describe gems in  jewelry as Marcasite, they actually mean Pyrite because Pyrite is really brittle.  Anyway, it has a really unique look.  Almost like a smoky quartz or something.  Here, take a peak:

So, here's a little peak into how my brain works.

Step 1) Start looking for a kind of turquoise ring that I actually like (I think most turquoise jewelry looks a little too cheesy for my tastes)
Step 2) Get distracted by some chunky fashion rings (one of which has turquoise in it)
Step 3) Get more distracted by some fantastic cocktail rings from SilverBin
Step 4) Blog about it before I forget again.

There you go. Pay no attention to the tiny man behind the curtain. All my secrets are exposed. Heh.

When I first saw mystic quarts jewelry, I was pretty sure that I either
a) ate the brownies on the "special plate"
b) time-traveled back to my college years and "accidentally" tried mushrooms.... again
c) was in the Lord of the Rings movies

Never fear, though. My sanity is intact. Err.. at least it's no more damaged than it ever was, I guess. But, that doesn't mean that Mystic Quartz isn't amazing!

Apparently Mystic Quarts is created in some sort of fairly new, somewhat high-tech treament of normal quartz. The end result is that the stone sparkles all the colors of the rainbow! It's especially intense in natural dayling.

So, these rings are great for summer! Besides, for those that don't know about Mystic Quartz, they might just think you have magical powers. Which, of course, you do!

Oh woe is me.  I'm such a martyr.  Here I am, spending all day looking at beautiful rings and trying to decide which one to tell you about.  I just don't know how I manage to do it.   Truth be told, I'd be doing this anyway, so it really works out that I have this blog to share with you guys.

Today I was looking around on Amazon and I noticed that they were having a new sale, Extra 30% Off Select Sterling Silver Rings.

So, I wandered through the rings that were on sale and found this beautiful Sterling Silver & 14k Gold Green Jade Ring.

It's from the Amazon.com collection, which usually means it's a real bargain because they sell it for effectively cost, it seems like.  I mean, take this ring.  The gemstone is green jade and the metal is 14k gold and sterling silver and they are selling it for $49.99.  That's almost 50% off of the list price.  I love the alternating bands of silver and gold around the green jade stones, it's a really unique look.  This is the kind of ring that looks good when you are going in for drinks in your cocktail dress or just enjoying a mocha at the bookstore with a baggy sweater and jeans.

As I often do, this morning I head over to Amazon to see what Today's Deals were.  I just love to find a good deal, so I looked to see what was shaking for Jewelry today and I discovered that, right now, it's an extra 30% off diamond and silver rings!  I'll take it!

So, then I wasted a good part of the morning looking at all the rings in this category and trying to decide what I couldn't live without.  Then I stumbled into this gorgeous Sterling Silver Diamond Buckle Ring.

When I was younger, I remember saving up my allowance then spending what seemed like hours looking at the J.C. Penny's jewelry kiosk.  You know, they had all the different types of gold and silver chain on spools and all sorts of rings, bracelets and earrings.  For some reason, when I saw this inexpensive sterling silver ring from JewelryVolt.com, I thought of that time again.  I can't really explain it, except to say that this ring makes me nostalgic for those times again.
