After focusing on inexpensive rings for the last few posts, I wanted to indulge my "sweet tooth" for some decadent jewelry.  But, and I'm blaming this on summer, I still wanted to look at cocktail rings.  Something about the sun makes me want to hop from patio to patio, sipping cocktails and mingling all the way.

So, when I went hunting for some new jewelry this morning I knew two things:

1. I had my heart set on a cocktail ring
2. I was craving Topaz for some reason

I can't explain it, but I knew there was a beautiful topaz cocktail ring out there and I just had to see it.  Now, I'm not sure I can afford this little beauty, but that doesn't mean I can't leave my browser window open to this page and fantasize all day long.  *sigh*  Some day, beautiful topaz ring.  Some day you will be mine!

Anyway, the ring is 10k yellow gold and the stones are Citrine, Pink Tourmaline and White Topaz.  I think I had more to say about it, but I keep looking at the picture and getting slightly hypnotized.  Take a peak for yourself.

I guess the good thing about being away from the Internet for almost a month is that when you get back there's all sorts of new pretties to check out! You guys already know about my weakness (read: addiction) for cocktail rings, right? Especially borderline tacky/gaudy rings. So, here's a little peak into how my brain works.

Step 1) Start looking for a kind of turquoise ring that I actually like (I think most turquoise jewelry looks a little too cheesy for my tastes)
Step 2) Get distracted by some chunky fashion rings (one of which has turquoise in it)
Step 3) Get more distracted by some fantastic cocktail rings from SilverBin
Step 4) Blog about it before I forget again.

There you go. Pay no attention to the tiny man behind the curtain. All my secrets are exposed. Heh.

Seriously, though, I do really love these cocktail rings.

So, sometimes I wonder if the phrase "Cocktail Ring" isn't just secret code for "gaudy and tacky".  I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my kitsch as much as the next girl, but oftentimes these cocktail rings aren't even fun for irony's sake.  Well, thank goodness for Avalaya.  They've made some delightful cocktail rings that can be celebrated with no irony necessary.  Sure, they are a little over-the-top, but that's sort of the point, right?  And, anyways, as long as they are over-the-top gorgeous, I'm sure not complaining.

So a week or so ago, I tweeted about this Multicolor CZ Cocktail Ring on Amazon.  Let me show you a picture and you'll understand where I'm coming from here.

At the time, I'm pretty sure I was poking fun at this ring.  I mean, look at it!  It's like somebody just didn't know when to stop.  It's like how you can't force yourself not to slow down and look at a car crash.  I mean, you know it's going to be terrible, but you just have to see exactly how terrible it's going to be.

Well, I think I looked one time too many because now I can't get this ring out of my head.  I mean, sure, it's still pretty over the top, but then I found myself admiring the person who came up with this thing.  There's just something to be said for a designer with this much chutzpah.  I can almost visualize the design session.  Some tiny eastern European  (or possibly South American) man with a flamboyant scarf, a woman's first name  and a giant mustache is frantically scribbling on a whiteboard and muttering to himself, "We have to get MORE into this ring!  We just HAVE to!"

Congratulations Lynn.  You did it!  It's a disaster that I just can't look away from.
